Figure Basing Tutorial

Here's a guide to how I base my figures, I use this system from 6mm to 28mm. The example here is an AB German Officer painted as a Generalmajor going to Darren of Rumbling Guns for a favour he did me. All colours are Vallejo. Dougie
1. Attach the figure to the base, if the base is particularly thick I blend it in with Vallejo pummice paste.

2. Paint base with 873 US Field Drab.

3. Use white glue to attach Woodland Scenics ballast onto the base. I use Fine Dark Brown code B71. This is a good match for 873. Make sure this is fully dry before starting the next stage.

4. A heavy drybrush with 843 Cork Brown.

5. Drybrush with 912 Tan Yellow

6. Drybrush with 847 Dark Sand

7. Very light drybrush with 837 Pale Sand

8. Figure primed

9. Figure painted and varnished

10. Attach your choice of vegetation, static grass/foliage/tufts

PARAS 10 Vimy Barracks Catterick 9th Sept 2012

Folks just to let you know myself and my 17yr old son Alex are taking part in the PARAS 10 endurance march tomorrow. The event is now in its 5th year and is the same 10 mile endurance march Parachute Regiment recruits must complete as part of P Company. Entrants must complete the event in boots carrying a 35lb bergan. I did my P Company week in 1982 and I did the PARAS 10 last in 2009, I'm a bit older now so I don't think I'll be doing it in 1hr 42 like I did in '82 :grin: The photo above is from the 2009 event. You can check out details of the event here
http://www.paras10.com/pcoy-challenge.php
Alex is running a just giving page here;

All money raised goes to The Parachute Regiment charity which supports wounded soldiers and their families. A small way to thank the boys out in Helmand, all donations no matter how small gratefully received.
Thanks, Dougie

"No Easy Day" by Mark Owen

Got it yesterday, finished it today hard to put down 1st First hand account of Op. Neptune Spear in Abbotabad. Lots of online comments around the perceived security breaches, probably best to read it and decide. Some good kit photos, HK MP7 and 416 and the latest generation NVGs as well as a great set of plans of the target building complex. Time to get the foamboard out! Dougie
