Fivecore Company Command - Falklands 10mm

A few photos of a recent run through of "Fivecore Company Command" using my 10mm Falklands collection. This is a cracking little system and plays well, we had a British Airborne Company of 3 platoons attacking a dug in Argentine position of platoon strength with support. I'll let the photos do the talking. If you're in the slightest bit interested in WW2 and modern regular company level engagements its worth a look! Dougie

How it started, British Company on the left in standard 2 up and 1 back platoon positioning, Alex choose not to position his command element in the middle as I would have but we'd have to wait and see the outcome. I commanded the Argentine Forces of a dug in platoon with .50cal support and Command element.

The Brits come under effective fire with some pinning, time to get the Company Commander doing his thing

2 platoons in the stream bed putting rounds down!

The platoon forward in the stream tributary hit the .50cal pinning it, casualties have also hit the Argentine Infantry Platoon, they've lost a squad.

After recovering and gritting teeth the British platoon from the tributary close assaults the Argentine .50cal.

At the same time other Brit platoons get off their belt buckles and move forward!

 Endex the Argentine position taken by fire and close assault.

This is a clever system you've got to really play through it and have a copy of the rules but I was very impressed with the quickness and fairly accurate result. They are available as a download from the wargames vault for the princely sum of $5.99, an absolute bargain, here's the link

  1. Nice to see your wonderful 10mm stuff getting an outing! CC is an excellent little system, although I feel there are perhaps too many 'conditions' units can suffer from (some of these could perhaps be merged). Aside from this minor gripe, it's one of the best systems out there for playing quick yet tactically challenging company-level actions. I sadly sold my Falklands collection recently to focus on my 12mm WW1 project so this post has bought a tear to my eye!

    1. Yes I saw them on the Lead Adventurers Forum, I think? Well they're easy enough to do and you don't need many, I have been there and sold stuff so I feel your pain!

      You are correct on the conditions, though I feel it probably works out okay in practice.
      When I demo the game, I usually prepare an index card for each player with each condition explained.

      You could simplify things like pinning a bit I am sure.

    That is a scary table to attack over but looks like the Brits put up a hard fight :-)

  3. Very good battle report, Dougie, and its great to see your brilliant terrain and figures again. Proof that you don't need a huge table or masses of figures for an excellent game.

  4. I've wanted to get started on a Falklands project - your excellent terrain, 10mm minis and report have inspired me to get stuck in. Fivecore CC seems like a good option. Was thinking of IABSM. Im no expert but for me conflict is very much about the grit of the troops - but also the climate and landscape that is being fought over. Have you managed to work out a way to incoprorate any of those last two into your gaming? Cheers Alan
