Falklands AAR Night Platoon Attack

A scenario to run through the night rules in Fireteam Modern. A British Platoon Attack, part of a larger engagement, on an Argentine held Tin Villa out in "The Camp".

The Brits were attacking with a Platoon, in defence the Argentinians Had a couple of fireteams, aGPMG team and a small HQ element. As already stated this was a night action.

Here's a view of the terrain and dispositions

Some other views

The Argentinian GPMG opened up causing some pins on the nearest British section, but not causing any casualties, 2 of the British sections responded causing lots of pins effectively suppressing the GPMG team. The Argentinian HQ element activated and moved across to try and stabilise the team and remove some pins.

The Brit section on the far side was hit suffering 1 KIA and 2 WIA, luckily the Platoon HQ arrived, the medic sorted the WIA and the Platoon Commander and Sgt managed to remove some pins.

The Brits then really got organised and effectively won the firefight on their left flank causing the Argentinian fireteam to break and rout off table. On the other flank the Brit Section close assaulted the Argentinian position causing casualties and breaking them, the remaining Argentinian forces then surrendered. A British victory, albeit with 2 KIA and 2 WIA/Treated. The Argentinians had 2 KIA, 3 WIA, a Fireteam routed off into the night and the remainder including the HQ surrendered.

Once again these rules performed really well and I would recommend them to all!

20mm Falklands Building and Playground Part 1

My Falklands terrain is progressing, albeit delayed due to work commitments, however back in the swing now. I've been working on another Scaledale tin building, repainted and weathering started.

A while ago I picked up a Faller HO scale Playground to utilise for the fighting around the Schoolhouse at Goose Green. Here's a photo of a conversion the Argentinians performed on the kids slide.

20mm Falklands Building and Sheep enclosure

One of the Scaledale buildings repainted and based as well as a sheep enclosure finished.

A new book published at the end of last month, required reading if you're interested in the conflict, written by the commander of the RM Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre, Rod Boswell, and covers all the engagements of the unit down south.

20mm Falklands Terrain

Roughly 8yrs ago I made some Falklands terrain boards for a 10mm game I was organising for a convention. The boards in question were based around an engagement fought by B Coy 2PARA during the battle of Goose Green. Here's a link to the start of the posts, Burnside Hill Game

I'd put tracks on the boards in 10mm scale and I was never 100% happy with the terrain work, I had used static grass, the colour was ok but it didn't look right if that makes sense?

Because of my recent work in 20mm I decided to update them, getting rid of the tracks and redoing the surface texture. I got lots of advice from the below books which are definitely worth picking up if you're making terrain.

Here's some shots of the original boards

The tracks were filled in with sculptamold and retextured with Woodland scenics products, I'm much happier with the result.

Now for some reason the photo below is darker than the terrain actually is.

These shots give a more accurate view of the colour

I'm also ploughing on with the buildings, here's a shot of the initial stages of the rusting procedure.
